About Us

Together we can.....

Taking inspiration from the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of achieving Net Zero by 2070 and emerging world-wide consensus to make maritime trade carbon neutral by 2050, the Board of Mumbai Port Authority, on 150th anniversary of Mumbai Port, resolved to set up a ‘Centre of Excellence on ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) and Circularity’ to guide business organisations across sectors in improving their overall sustainability. The Centre has been established under Mumbai Port Sustainability Foundation and was inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal in presence of eminent personalities of the Maharashtra and Mumbai region.

The Centre is dealing with some of the key areas of sustainability such as non-conventional environmental management, social impact management, receptibility of governance structure, circular economy, climatic resilience, climatic adaptation, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, decarbonisation (carbon budgeting, emission reduction, sequestration using biotic and abiotic means) etc.

The foundation’s objectives include helping organisations drawing out their road map for overall sustainability, identifying material aspects of ESG and addressing them to address non-financial risks, working towards climate neutrality, inculcating circular economic principles and culture in business operations.
